Here is a recap of the month of August for the Asheville Tourists. In this recap, we take a look at which prospects flourished in August, as well as name a Batter and Pitcher of the Month.

The Asheville Tourists had a great month of August, winning 17 of their 28 games, while compiling a team earned run average of 3.36. They had multiple prospects put together some great months, and even saw two of their players earn post-season All-Star honors. Jordan Pacheco earned league Most Valuable Player honors, as he was named an All-Star, while Scott Robinson joined Pacheco on the team.

Parker Frazier had a stellar month on the mound for the Tourists, posting a 1.13 earned run average in three starts. The right-hander struck out a batter per inning in August, earning two wins, while holding the opposition to a .228 batting average. Alan Deratt made six appearances, including five starts, and had a 2.18 earned run average. The righty also struck out 24 in 20.2 innings.

Two Tourist relievers were nearly unhittable in the month, as Isaiah Froneberger and Adam Jorgenson combined to appear in 22 games. Froneberger made ten appearances, notching 20 strikeouts, and batters hit only .200 against him. Jorgenson had a miniscule 0.79 mark in 12 games, while picking up six saves.

Juan Nicasio had a complete game shutout during the month, and Michael Marbry had a 1.69 earned run average in 12 relief appearances. Jonnathan Aristil also had a complete game shutout, and Stephen Dodson and Rex Brothers both put together earned run averages under 2.30. In total, the team combined to go 7-8 in save opportunities, had two complete games, and struck out 235 batters in 244 innings.

Three Tourist batters hit .325 or better in August, with Pacheco leading the way with a .333 mark. In 23 games, Pacheco drove in 15 runs, hit two home runs, and scored 17 times. Kiel Roling led the team with 23 runs batted in, hitting an incredible nine home runs, as he finished slightly behind Pacheco with a .330 average. Roling also had seven doubles, scored 21 times, and tied for the team lead with 12 walks.

Mike Zuanich also walked 12 times, compiling a .329 batting average, and he also joined Roling with 23 runs batted in. From their two first baseman, the Tourists got 15 home runs, 46 runs batted in, and a .329 combined average. Roling and Zuanich also combined to score 34 runs, and had twelve doubles.
