Rockies Prospect Power Rankings v.2

Here is the second installment of the brand new RockiesInsider.com Prospect Power Rankings. In this feature, which will run every ten days, we rank the top-25 prospect right now. It is not a list of the best prospects in the organization, but rather who is playing the best right now.

3	Michael Paulk	ASH	Paulk continues to rake for the Tourists, and the past nine games were no different.  He collected 11 hits, drove in nine, and smacked another home run.  He hit .314 over that span.	Rising
4	Eric Young Jr.	MOD	Young may be the hottest hitter in the Rockies farm system lately, and is turning himself into a top prospect.  He leads the organization with 60 steals, and hit .378 over his last ten games.	Blazing
5	Joe Koshansky	CSP	Koshansky has struggled over the last nine games, and it lead to him losing his top spot in our rankings.  The slugger batted only .219 over his last nine games, and drove in only four runs.	Falling
6	Seth Smith	CSP	Smith is currently one of the top hitters in the Pacific Coast League, and may be one of the top hitters overall.  The past ten games have not been evidence of that, as he has hit under .250 in that time.	Falling
7	Andrew Graham	ASH	Talk about a beast.  Graham has been unhittable lately for the Tourists, striking out 17 in his last 15 innings of work.  In that time, Graham has not allowed an earned run, and has walked only four.	Rising
8	Keith Weiser	ASH	Weiser has been one of the better starting pitchers in the South Atlantic League, and picked up his 13th win of the season this past week.  Weiser has struck out ten in his last 13 innings of work.	Rising
9	Chris Nelson	MOD	Nelson was recently named RockiesInsider.com Player of the Month, after ripping apart opposing pitching in July.  The young slugger has hit .316 over his last ten games, and has driven in 12.	Rising
10	Christian Colonel	TUL	Colonel may be the Most Valuable Player in the Texas League, as he currently ranks in the top-5 in most categories.  He was recently named Texas League's Co-Player of the Week.	Rising
11	Aneury Rodriguez	ASH	In his last two starts, Rodriguez has notched two victories, and has been a strikeout machine.  In his last 10.1 innings of work, Rodriguez has struck out 13 batters, and has walked only four.	Rising
12	Alan Johnson	MOD	Johnson has been a perfect compliment to Brandon Hynick this season, and continues to put up good numbers.  In his last two starts, Johnson has picked up two more victories, and has struck out nine.	Steady
13	Jeff Kindel	MOD	Kindel has been incredible with the stick lately, and is starting to turn his season into a memorable one.  Kindel batted .389 over his last nine games, driving in ten runs.  He also hit two home runs, and scored seven times.	Blazing
14	Anthony Jackson	ASH	Jackson is an absolute burner, who currently leads the South Atlantic League with 12 triples.  However, he has been doing it all lately, batting .344 over his last nine games.  He also has hit two home runs.	Rising
15	Ryan Speier	CSP	Three more games, two more saves for Speier, who did not allow an earned run in those three games.  He currently leads the Pacific Coast League in saves.	Steady
16	Steven Register	TUL	Register was touched up in his last four games, but he still ranks atop the leaderboard in the Texas League in saves.  He should bounce back from his recent bad outings.	Falling
17	Michael McKenry	ASH	McKenry is one of the top catching prospects in the South Atlantic League, and is currently swinging a hot stick.  In his last nine games, McKenry is batting .345, and has driven in five runs.	Steady
18	Daniel Carte	MOD	We all know Carte is a doubles machine, but he has been stroking the longball lately.  In his last nine games, Carte has smacked three home runs, and has scored nine times.  He also has eight ribbies.	Rising
19	Clint Barmes	CSP	To me, it is really a shame at what has happened to Clint Barmes' career.  Once considered the Rockies long-term solution at shortstop, Barmes is mired in another slump at Triple-A.	Falling
20	Daniel Mayora	ASH	Mayora is in the midst of a horrible slump, that has seen him bat under .200 for the last ten games.  He is a much better hitter than he is showing lately.	Falling
21	Ian Stewart	CSP	Just like Barmes, Stewart is slumping at Triple-A Colorado Springs, and has looked lost at the plate.  The slugger is batting only .214 over his last ten games, though he does have two home runs.	Falling
22	Joe Gaetti	CSP	The sluggers at the Triple-A level have fallen on hard times lately, and Joe Gaetti is no different.  Over his last ten games, Gaetti is also hitting under .200, batting a horrible .148 in that span.	Falling
23	Jordan Czarniecki	TUL	The Czar is in the middle of a memorable run at the plate lately, and was recently named Co-Player of the Week in the Texas League with teammate Christian Colonel.  In his last ten games, Czarniecki is batting .371, and has scored nine times.	Rising
24	Aaron Rifkin	TUL	Rifkin is another member of the Tulsa Drillers who is killing the ball right now, as the team has been on a recent power surge.  Rifkin is batting .317 over his last ten games, and has driven in 12.	Rising
25	Esmil Rogers	ASH	Rogers has been a strikeout monster lately, striking out 15 batters over his last two starts.  In that time, Rogers has won both of his starts, and has allowed only two earned runs.	Rising
