MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: May 2

The top two teams in the system combine for only one run on three hits while committing four errors. Max Fried was out with a fever but Justin Hancock was able to fill in and dominate. Overall the system was .500 yet again.

Tucson Padres 0 – Tacoma Rainiers 8

Key Statistics RHP Sean O'Sullivan 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 11 K; RF Jaff Decker 1-3, 2B.

Prospect Watch: Sean O'Sulivan set the new T-Pad single game high for strikeouts in a game with 11. The previous high was Will Inman back in 2010. Despite all the strikeouts, O'Sullivan gave up two home runs in the fourth accounting for all four runs he allowed… Padres managed only two hits in the game as Jeremy Bonderman was lights out. The Padres managed only three baserunners in the game. Dan Robertson had a tough four game series in Tacoma going 0-15 with 2 walks.

Frisco RoughRiders 3 – San Antonio Missions 1

Key Statistics LHP Jose De Paula 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K; 4 errors and 1 hit

Prospect Watch: Jose De Paula continued to pitch well. The lefty did not walk a batter and threw just 24 balls compared to 60 strikes. His control has been so good this year that he boosts a 12:1 K:BB ratio, and has walked just two batters in 33.1 innings. Unfortunately, despite never allowing more than two earned runs in a start, De Paula fell to 1-3 on the year. The offense managed just one run on one hit… After starting out the year hot, Everett Williams has just two hits in his last 18 at bats, and has not had a multi- hit game in two weeks.

High Desert Mavericks 2 – Lake Elsinore Storm 6

Key Statistics LHP Frank Garce 6 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 6 Ks; LF Luis Domoromo 2-4, HR (1), 3 RBI; 2B Cory Spangenberg 2-4, RS, RBI.

Prospect Watch: Frank Garces had his best outing of the year. The biggest factor was the wind. Garces is an extreme flyball pitcher, so going into this season it was expected that he might have problems keeping the ball in the park. Tonight the wind was blowing from left to right. Garces was masterful giving them left field and then watching the wind push it into center. Garces still allowed a homerun but with the wind he was pitching with confidence… Brandon Alger relieved Garces, marking the first relief appearance of the year for Alger who had previously been hit hard in all starts.

. Burlington Bees 2 – Fort Wayne TinCaps 4

Key Statistics RHP Justin Hancock 6 IP, 3 H, ER, 5 K; RF Corey Adamson 1-3, RS, SB (7); 3B Gabriel Quintana 3-4, RS.

Prospect Watch: Justin Hancock had an emergency start after Max Fried came down with a fever. Luckily with a six man rotation, Hancock did not have to pitch on three days' rest. After a leadoff single in the first Hancock then retired the next 12 in a row. Hancock allowed only three baserunners in the game, marking the third time in five starts that Hancock had a WHIP of less than one. Hancock has now allowed more than one run in only one of his five starts this year… While Alberth Martinez did not homer in his fourth straight game he did hit a two-RBI single to get the TinCaps on the board.
