It was just two years ago that Moyer posted a 4.84 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 110 innings for the Phillies. With a career ERA of 4.24 and 1.12 WHIP over 24 MLB seasons, it's clear Moyer isn't the future of the Rockies rotation. But, if he can pass down some of the wisdom he's accrued over his long career to the club's young pitchers this spring, then surely this deal will be worth it for the Rockies.
There is the outside chance that Moyer could stick in the Rockies rotation or bullpen, of course. It's unknown whether or not the deal includes an early season opt out clause.
